NEWS - October, 2008: MIGRATIONS (35mm / 7:50), the short animation film I wrote and performed the poetry for has just been awarded the Poetry Foundation Award for best short animation at the Chicago International Children's Film Festival this October. Check out the press release here. The film tells the story of the Manila Galleon Trade of the 16th-18th centuries that was part of a vast transnational migration. The film, commissioned by the city of Pasadena in 2006, is a collaboration with artist Alyssa Sherwood and musician DJ HighEnd. It was also an entry in the Nashville International Film Festival earlier this year. Watch an excerpt here.
